Information for Staff

Life Design is an initiative developed by UWTSD to support students with making the most of the opportunities available to them while they are at University and preparing for their future lives.

As all UWTSD programmes build students’ essential employability skills from within the curriculum, we’re here to help support you by developing and promoting added-value extra-curricular and co-curricular opportunities for your students.

We’ve developed a simple framework of four iterative phases that take students through a series of exercises designed to support them in taking control of their personal development and employability. These will be open to all students via a range of access points.

In a workshop, in your classroom, or online…

Outside the Classroom…

We’re offering a range of workshops, events and support to students outside the curriculum, so please encourage your students to attend. You might particularly wish to refer students to our workshops if you think they are struggling to engage with developing their employability and would benefit from attending one of the sessions.

The full list of forthcoming events is available on our events page.  If you’d like to suggest an event or work with us to organise something tailored for your students, please get in touch.

Embedding Life Design

We’d love to talk to academic staff about embedding Life Design into their programmes where there are aligned learning outcomes.  Please get in touch with us if you’d like to have a chat about the possibilities.

Students who are unable to access our workshops (e.g. distance learners) can follow the process using the self-directed resources in the Life Design Process section of this site.

You are also welcome to use these resources within your teaching, and we’d love it if you could let us know how you’re using them and to receive any feedback you have.  We’ll be building on these over the coming months as we develop the programme.  If you have resources that you are already using that you think might be useful to others, we’d love to hear from you.

Please see our FAQ page for more frequently asked questions, and if you have further questions or would like to find out more about the initiative please do get in touch.
