Students from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David BA Perfformio (Performance) course are looking forward to stage a production of ‘Amadeus’.

Stage production Amadeus by Peter Shaffer poster.

‘Amadeus’ will be performed on May 25th and 26th in the Urdd Centre, Cardiff.

During the production, the wonderful composer Amadeus Mozart is determined to attract attention and succeeds in astonishing the court composer, Salieri, with his incredible talent. The power to elevate or destroy Mozart is in his hands. But Salieri’s jealousy overcomes him, and he starts a battle against him, against music and eventually against God. BA Performance students will present the drama under the direction of the versatile Siôn Pritchard.

Siôn said:

“Amadeus is a remarkable and exciting drama that examines our darkest human tendencies. It does so via the prism of life, death, and the unique ability of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

“I’m greatly looking forward to working with the enthusiastic talent of UWTSD to explore this award-winning work.”

BA Performance course student Fflur Davies is looking forward to performing ‘Amadeus’.

“I’m very much looking forward to performing this special drama with my fellow students. It is a linguistically challenging drama but I’m looking forward to the challenge. Salieri is highly regarded but is a very sly person. It’s going to be fun playing a character with a complex and colourful character.”

Lecturer Elen Bowman added:

“It’s lovely to welcome Siôn Pritchard to us to direct Ken Owen’s rich translation that was performed in Theatr Gwynedd some years ago. The students enjoy investigating the story’s history and are looking forward to a catchy and humorous presentation.”
