Faith Over is graduating with a BEng in Manufacturing Systems from UWTSD today. Faith is employed at Eaton, the power management company, that helps customers effectively manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more reliably, efficiently, safely and sustainably.

Faith Over smiles in her graduation robes.

As well as celebrating at graduation she is also about to start a new role leading on CI initiatives and process improvements across different business functions within the EMEA region.

She said: “Prior to starting the Degree Apprenticeship, my educational background had traditionally been in what may be perceived as “softer” skills and subjects – mainly business management. When I started my role within a manufacturing facility, many engineering concepts were talked about and mentioned daily as if they were simple common sense and I found myself often struggling to follow certain conversations.

“This negatively impacted my confidence as even when someone tried to explain a concept to me, the explanation would be too brief for me to fully grasp. I felt inadequate and would avoid trying to give any input or suggestions from fear of looking like a fool.

“The Degree Apprenticeship Programme helped me realise I am more capable than I once believed. I have been able to further my knowledge and take the lead in conversations which I was once anxious about even participating in.”
