Darcie Cochrane will join ‘The Satin Dollz,’ to perform as a part of a vintage pin-up singing trio. It originated in 2005 in LA, and the company currently have divisions in New York, Paris, Italy, and London.

As part of her role, Darcie will be performing at various places as part of the group including vintage festivals, WWII events and corporate events.

Darcie said:

“I found the audition link through the Satin Dollz Instagram, they advertised they were holding singer auditions and I thought why not? It’s a dream of mine to be part of the vintage community and to perform in it is even better! I applied because I knew it would line up perfectly with finishing my course and that even though I’m still training I might as well put myself out there.

“Satin Dollz is just the beginning of what I’m sure is going to be a vibrant, exciting and varied performing career!”

Darcie decided to study for her MA in Musical Theatre at UWTSD because she knew that she needed an intensive course to get her to a professional and industry-performing standard.

“For me, the intensity of this course has massively helped me. In our first term, we focused on our practical skills and finished our assessments in February. A term of intensive classes taught me exactly what I needed to become a better performer.

“Our teachers at WAVDA are always so supportive while pushing you to your fullest potential. Tori Johns our dance teacher has hugely increased my confidence in dance, and every lesson was so beneficial to my growth as a performer.”

Eilir Owen Griffiths, Senior Lecturer and Director of The Wales Academy of Voice and Dramatic Arts said.

“It’s always great news when a student, that is coming to the end of their studies with us, secures a role. Darcie has worked hard during her time with us and we are so pleased with her success. We wish her well with the Satin Dollz.”

Lecturer Elen Bowman added:

“We are delighted that Darcie has been successful with this her first professional engagement. Darcie has steadily grown and developed during her MA in Musical Theatre and is a most vibrant and committed student. We wish her all the very best with Satin Dollz and all future work that comes her way!”

As Darcie’s journey at UWTSD is coming to an end, she encourages others to follow in her footsteps:

“The BA Musical Theatre, BA Perfformio and MA Musical Theatre courses are intensive to get you up to a standard that is ready for joining the industry. If you are looking to push yourself but also have the time of your life with the most amazing and talented coursemates, I strongly encourage you to apply! You get what you put into this course, and now I’m almost at the end of my time at WAVDA I couldn’t have imagined training anywhere else.”
