The University of Wales Trinity Saint David has appointed a new Apprenticeship Development Officer to join the University’s Apprenticeships Unit.

Wearing a UWTSD-branded Apprenticeships shirt, Emily Hunt smiles towards the camera.

Emily Hunt will be joining the University from her previous role as Director of Sales at the Village Hotel in Swansea. This new role will see Emily engaging with a number of employers across Wales that will use her fantastic business development skills to promote the University’s degree apprenticeships.

Emily believes that the Welsh Government funded-degree programmes on offer at the University are “an excellent pathway for employees to upskill within their organisation and for employers to get the right training and development for their staff. Working for UWTSD is a total contrast to working in the hospitality industry and I’m thoroughly enjoying the challenge.”

She herself started out as an apprentice after leaving Birchgrove Comprehensive School at the age of 16. She completed an apprenticeship at Forte Hotels (now the Dragon Hotel) in Swansea, before securing a role as a Reservations Manager.

She made the decision to return to education later on in her career to complete her HND degree in Business Studies at Swansea Metropolitan University, now a part of UWTSD, and graduated in 2009.
