So, it’s finally here… You’ve been invited to your graduation ceremony and your last exams and assignments are nearly behind you. Your last few weeks at UWTSD seem to be flying by and before you know it you’ll be doffing your cap and celebrating with family and friends at graduation.
But, there are a few things you need to do before you finish;
Save off all those important files
Over the course of your studies, you’ve probably been taking full advantage of the 1TB of storage available to you on OneDrive. However, you’ve only got access to your student account for 90 days after you graduate, so now’s the time to start saving and backing up all your important files onto another platform like an external hard drive, USB, DropBox or Google Drive. This also applies to any emails you might wish to keep. To make the process a little easier, why not set up a forward from your UWTSD email to a personal email account so you don’t miss anything important? Visit our guide…
Take advantage of the resources on offer
We have developed a range of online resources that you can access exclusively as a UWTSD student to help maximise your potential.
Sign up to GoinGlobal, a platform that will allow you access to lots of careers resources and toolkits as well as millions of job and internship listings at home and abroad. Once you’ve registered on a campus computer and set up your account, you’ll have a wealth of information at your fingertips which could help you to land your perfect job.
You can also complete a free online employability module with Work Ready Graduates. You’ll have the opportunity to reflect on your skills and see where you could improve, helping you to excel in the workplace. It’s also a great addition to your CV, contributing to your professional development and making you stand out. Find out more about what the module offers
Finally, as you approach the end of your time at UWTSD, it’s important that you take advantage of the careers support we can offer. Whether you need help with your CV or job application; interview support or are not sure about where to start; the UWTSD Careers service are here to help. Find out about what they can offer and book your appointment online.
Remember that at UWTSD we offer a unique Careers service, where students and graduates of the university can access careers support. So if you need advice after you’ve graduated get in touch with a Careers Advisor via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Creating networks is important, so make sure you maintain the connections you’ve made with your classmates and lecturers since you’ve been studying with us. You never know when you might need to get in touch to share how you’re getting on or to request an academic reference.
The best way to do this is by setting up a LinkedIn profile, and we’ve put together some handy top tips for you to try. Make sure to follow the UWTSD LinkedIn page and the Showcase page for your school to find out about jobs and opportunities in your area.
After you graduate we’ll send you regular e-newsletters to let you know about the goings on at UWTSD and the opportunities and events you can get involved in. We’d also love to hear how you’re getting on and will ask you to complete a short survey about 15 months after you graduate. You can find out more about the Graduate Outcomes survey on our website.
Help us to keep in touch by updating your details on MyTSD and remember to keep in touch with us on social media @UWTSDStudents – maybe even tagging us into your best graduation photos.
Good Luck for the future!
