The sessions, which offered ten half-hour slots, were in high demand, with all available slots being booked within the first few days of announcement. Such overwhelming interest indicates the eagerness of students to refine their portfolios and enhance their competitiveness in the job market.

Bethan Morris who is a BA Graphic Design student at UWTSD, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “The portfolio review session provided invaluable feedback that I know will help me refine my work and stand out in a crowded job market. I feel more confident in pursuing my career goals after receiving guidance from industry professionals.”

These portfolio review sessions underscore UWTSD’s commitment to providing practical, industry-relevant experiences to its students, further cementing its reputation as a leading institution in this field. Lecturer Ian Simmons shared his thoughts, stating, “We take immense pride in the close ties we’ve cultivated with industry partners, and events like these exemplify the benefits of such collaborations. Rachael and Ben’s expertise added tremendous value to our students’ learning experience, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the competitive landscape of graphic design and creative advertising.

Strong links with industry are fundamental to us at UWTSD and the institution continues to fortify these ties to benefit its students.  Due to the significant demand for these sessions, we’ll look at arranging additional sessions very soon to accommodate students who missed out on this opportunity”.

Rachael Wheatley, Founding Director of Waters Creative, added, “It was truly inspiring to see the level of talent and dedication showcased by the UWTSD students. Offering guidance on their portfolios was a rewarding experience, and I believe these sessions will undoubtedly strengthen their prospects in the industry.”
